Kerala calls back globetrotters; Munnar is all bright and sunny

The sun shines over the God’s Own Country, not knowing about the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) weather warning issued across the state sighting chances of incessant rains. However, looking at the clear sky, the IMD withdrew red alert for rains and landslides across Kerala, which they had issued earlier this week. The IMD had predicted excessive rainfall across Kerala, followed by which red alert have been issued in Palakkad, Thrissur and Idukki districts of Kerala. Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the 10th edition of Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) at Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty today (September 27) at 6 pm. Union Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons will be the chief guest at the mart. The floods in Kerala has devastated many lives, taken their shelters away and damaged many properties. Tourism and hospitality industry is one of the worst hit businesses in the state with Idukki and Munnar being marooned and devastated and roads, rail and airways become nonfunctional. North Bengal likely to open 89 more trekking routes

With an aim to attract more tourists and promote tourist in the state, the West Bengal Tourism Department has recently sanctioned 89 trekking routes in north Bengal. “Measures will be taken to ensure safety of visitors opting to go for trekking,” said WBTD. Besides Darjeeling, the tourism department has discovered quite a few trekking routes in the Dooars region too. Lodges/small cottages are available along the routes for the trekkers. Women bikers expedition kicks off from Kochi

A six member all-women biker team has started their expedition from Kochi to Delhi today. All the team members are Federal Bank employees, of which five are Malayalis. The team, christened ‘Motor Cycle Angels’ will cover a distance of 3000 km from Kochi to Delhi within 20 days. The trips, as part of ‘Federal Motor Cycle Expedition’ was flagged off from Federal Towers at Ernakulam Marine Drive. Ayodhya – Photo for representative purpose only A new tourist township, ‘Navya Ayodhya’ is coming up in Uttar Pradesh, near Ayodhya. The township will be spread across 500 acres of land on Faizabad-Gorakhpur National Highway with an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore. India planning to boost Chinese tourist arrivals

Tourism Minister KJ Alphons has said that the tourism ministry is very keen to attract more Chinese travellers and is hopeful of boosting their arrivals to 14.4 million in five years. The ministry has introduced a slew of measures which includes promotional events and Mandarin-speaking guides. The minister also informed that the ministry would be setting up its first office at Beijing soon. India’s first state-run all-woman hotel to come up in Kerala

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is all set to open India’s first public sector hotel run entirely by women for women in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram.
