Chinese boats ferry tourists to Bhavani Island

Chinese-made air-conditioned hi-tech boats will ferry tourists from Durga Ghat to Punnami Ghat and Bhavani Island in Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati soon. The AP Tourism Development Corporation has imported the 36-passenger capacity boat by spending Rs 1.19 crore. All the seats have a life jacket facility and foolproof security has been provided inside the boat as per the guidelines of international navigation. The boat will soon be introduced in Krishna River in Vijayawada. Tourist footfall in Odisha up by 38 per cent

The tourist inflow to Odisha in 2017-18 (till January) has increased by around 38 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of 2016-17 . Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, said that as many as 86,162 tourists from abroad visited Odisha in 2017-18 (till January) compared to 62,539 arrivals in 2016-17 in the corresponding period last year, registering 37.77 per cent growth over the previous fiscal. The tourist footfall of 2016-17 was 17.70 per cent more as compared to the corresponding period of 2015-16 where 53,133 foreign tourists had visited the state. Saudi Arabia won’t retain passports of Indian crew on arrival

The government of Saudi Arabia has decided not to retain the passports of the Indian airline crew members on arrival in the country and issue a bar code instead. The move comes as a big relief to the crew of Air India and Jet Airways, the two Indian airlines which fly to Saudi. The decision not to retain the passports of the crew of Indian airlines came into effect from mid-February this year. The bar code given to the crew members will have limited validity. IRCTC opens luxury saloon car to public

Opening its doors to the common man for the first time, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) operated Railway Saloon Coach departed for its maiden tour to Katra from the Old Delhi Raiway Station with six passengers on board. India’s first saloon coach with air-conditioned rooms, attached bathrooms and valet services was earlier available for only top railway officials. Kozhikode beach to be differently-abled friendly

The Calicut District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is planning to build wheelchair-friendly entrances at major tourism destinations in the city. The first in the list will be the much famed Kozhikode beach. Exclusive parking slots for the vehicles driven by differently-abled will also be arranged as part of the project. The guarded parking spaces will be designed to ensure easy entry and exit. The disabled-friendly tourism spots is also expected to attract foreign tourists. Of the 1.3 crore domestic tourists and 10.7 lakh international tourists arriving in Kerala, 10 per cent belongs to the differently-abled category.

Jet Airways offers 30% discount on domestic, international flight tickets

As part of its ‘Easter Deals’, Jet Airways is offering up to 30 per cent discount on domestic as well as international flight tickets on select routes. The customers can avail the special offer till April 2, 2018. AccorHotels to launch new hotel brands in India

Europe’s leading hospitality group AccorHotels said it has plans to launch new hotel brands in luxury and service apartment space. The company is in advanced stage of discussions with a real estate developer in Gurugram to launch its first global apartment hotel brand, Novotel Suites in India. The construction of the project which comprises around 100 apartments is expected to start in the next few months. The company also has plans to launch similar projects in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Bengal plans trekking path survey

The state tourism department of West Bengal is planning to conduct a survey of existing trekking routes in north Bengal and explore new ones as part of a plan to encourage adventure tourism in the region. The department plans to engage firms which have experience in the field of trekking to conduct a comprehensive survey and to collect data on the trekking routes of the eastern Himalayan region. The firms would also have the task to explore prospective routes which can be promoted in due course among travelling enthusiast. Emirates to introduce second daily flight to Prague

Emirates said it will add a second daily flight between Dubai and Prague, after steadily growing passenger numbers on the route during the eight years since launch of operations in July 2010. The new Emirates flight will commence from 1st July 2018 to meet the increasing demand for both inbound and outbound travel. The second daily flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER with a capacity of 360 seats, boosting inbound tourism through the additional 262,800 seats a year it will provide. Gatimaan express extends its sevice to Jhansi

India’s first semi-high speed train Gatimaan Express is all about to extend its service to Jhansi from 1st April onwards. The new move is as part of helping the tourists, said North Central Railway officials in a statement. “The new move is an added advantage for international and domestic tourist, as it would boost the economic viability of the train,” said Divisional Commercial Manager Agra. Tourism ministry sanctions 4 projects under Tribal Circuit theme

Ministry of Tourism said it has sanctioned four projects under the Tribal Circuit theme, one of the fifteen thematic circuits identified for development under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Under the scheme, government has sanctioned the amount for two circuits being developed in Nagaland, one in Chhattisgarh and fourth one in Telangana. Rs 97.36 crore and Rs 99.67 crore have been sanctioned for the development of Peren- Kohima- Wokha and Mokokchung-Tuensang-Mon Tribal Circuits in Nagaland respectively. For the development of Jashpur-Kunkuri-Mainpat- Ambikapur-Maheshpur-Ratanpur-Kurdar-SarodadadarGangrel- Kondagaon-Nathyanawagaon-Jagdalpur- Chitrakoot-Tirthgarh circuit in Chhattisgarh, the government has sanctioned Rs 99.94 crore.
