Bengaluru Airport to get its own robot soon

India’s Silicon Valley will soon be the first in India to offer robotic assistance to passengers. Named Kempa, the humanoid robot was created by local start-up Sirena Technologies. The project is in its final phase, and is likely to be installed at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport as soon as Minister of State of Innovation and Technology Priyank Kharge gives his approval. Kempa will assist the passengers if they need help with check-in or navigating the airport, tips on what to see and do in Karnataka or even just an entertaining conversation to kill time until your flight. Air Force and Navy in search of missing Liga Skromane

Two weeks after Latvian national Liga Skromane went missing from Kovalam, the State Government has sought the help of Navy and Air Force for underwater search in the area. As per State Govt’s request, Air Force transport aircraft AN-32 from Sulur Airforce Station reached Kochi and transported naval assets from Kochi Naval Command to Trivandrum on 1st April afternoon. Thereafter the naval assets weighing around 1000 kg in two trucks were transported from Air Force Technical Area, Shangumugam  to Kovalam. Ten Andhra temples to be made eco-parks

With the aim to attract more tourists to the area, the state government is planning to develop eco-parks in the premises of ten temples. An eco-park at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada is in the making. The Andhra Pradesh forest department is readying a blueprint to turn 10 popular temples into ecotourism hubs. All the eco-parks will be developed keeping Kotappakonda in Guntur as a model. Kotappakonda features a colourful butterfly and deer park, a play area for children and recreation centre for tourists. Selfies to be banned in tourist spots

The Centre has asked the state governments to identify tourist spots where accidents occur frequently when people take selfies, following reports of several such incidents. Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said the safety provisions for tourists, including precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident such as declaring “No-Selfie Zones” at popular tourist sites were the primary responsibility of the state governments and Union territory administrations. “Accidents occurring in the process of taking selfies are reported from time to time. Jammu ropeway ready for trial run

Jammu and Kashmir’s new ropeway project, which is expected to boost tourism, is all set for a trial run this month. “The ropeway project will boost tourism and add to aesthetics of the city,” said Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi after reviewing the progress of the project. IndiGo to commence Chennai-Tiruchirapalli service

India’s all-time favourite budget carrier IndiGo, is about to start direct flights from Chennai to Tiruchirapalli from 1st June onwards. IndiGo assigns its 7th ATR aircraft for the new mission. Meghalaya seeks Central push for tourism projects

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma sought the intervention of Union Tourism Minister K J Alphons to initiate “destination tourism” projects in the state. “We have to build tourism around the USPs of the region and the focus of the government will be to bring the tourism potential of the state in sync with creating avenues for the farming community as well as the youth to take entrepreneurial activities,” Sangma said. Tourist visa rules completed in Saudi

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) has announced that the regulations for tourist visas have been completed and submitted to the higher authorities for approval, said a SCTNH statement quoted by the Center of International Communication (CIC). The regulations were reviewed in a series of meetings and workshops with relevant government institutions.
