The Emirates A380 drew in more than 3000 visitors in two days at the first ever Saudi International Airshow. The Emirates A380 was the largest commercial aircraft on display at the milestone event. The aircraft received a royal visit from HRH Sultan bin Salman, Chairman of the Board of Saudi Space Agency. Thai Smile, the regional carrier of Thai Airways, is all set to start operating from Kolkata to Bangkok, five times a week, from March 31, 2019. The aircraft used for the operations on this route is Airbus 320. The starting fare for the flight is Rs. 8993 all included. The direct flight will also place TG-coded flight numbers on this route. Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA), the world class flight training facility developed by Emirates, and the National Aviation Academy (TAYARAN), a not-for-profit vocational training institute in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share their expertise and jointly promote their training programmes and exchange cadets pilots and aircraft maintenance technicians in training between the two academies. Vistara has received central government’s approval to launch international flights. Vistara, the joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines, is the fifth Indian carrier to ply on international routes. Post the approval, Vistara has sought permission to start operating on Delhi and Colombo route seven days a week. It is believed that Vistara has sought bilateral rights to Sri Lanka and slots from Delhi Airport for the same. The aircraft used for the Delhi-Colombo route would be Airbus A320. Emirates has announced the launch of a second daily flight from Dubai (DXB) to London Stansted (STN) starting 1st July, 2019. The additional flight means that Emirates customers will now have 11 daily flight options to and from three London airports. Tourism players of Kashmir valley made a request to extend the UDAN (ude desh ka aam nagrik) scheme of the central government to Kashmir region to tackle the skyrocketing air fairs, which hampers the flow of tourists to the state. UDAN (ude desh ka aam nagrik) scheme was launched by the union ministry to make air travel affordable for people through subsidized ticket prices and to provide air connectivity to smaller towns. Japan Airlines (JAL) said it will launch a new non-stop daily service between Tokyo (Narita) and Bengaluru from 2020. With this service, JAL is introducing the first direct flights to Tokyo from  a South Indian city. JAL, which now has direct flights to Tokyo from New Delhi, is planning to operate flights on the Bengaluru-Tokyo route daily. The Tokyo-Bengaluru flight will leave Tokyo at 6:25 pm and reach Bengaluru at 12:05 am (next day). Etihad Airways will introduce a new two-class Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, the largest variant of the technologically advanced aircraft, on its scheduled daily morning service from Abu Dhabi to Rome, complementing the second overnight 777-300ER departure. On 1 July, the airline will introduce the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on its two daily services to Frankfurt.
