Ministry of Tourism in its ongoing efforts to strengthen the Hospitality & Tourism Industry especially in the times of the pandemic has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MakeMyTrip (India) Private Limited and Ibibo Group Private Limited on 17.08.2021. Ministry of Tourism has already signed MoUs with Easy my Trip, Clear trip, and Yatra.com. The primary objective of this MoU is to provide extensive visibility to accommodation units, which have self-certified themselves on SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness & Training for the Hospitality Industry) on the OTA platform. FHRAI seeks intervention of tourism ministry

The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) seeks assistance the of tourism ministry to find an amicable settlement of their dispute with online travel aggregators (OTAs) Go-Ibibo and Make My Trip (Go-MMT), and hospitality chain OYO Hotels. FHRAI has written to the Minister of State for Tourism, K J Alphons in this regard. Flipkart launches phone recharges, flight bookings on app

Flipkart has announced the addition of two new tabs to its mobile application: Recharges and Travel – Flights. The online retailer has partnered with payments platform, PhonePe to enable customers to recharge their phones through its website, while for air ticket booking, it has partnered MakeMyTrip. Flipkart is offering a 25 per cent instant discount on phone recharges subject to a maximum discount of Rs 50 as an introductory offer. Indians prefer long-haul foreign tourist attractions this summer: Report

With summer vacations fast approaching, most Indians are planning to head to long-haul international destinations with booking going up by 25 per cent compared to last year, said a report published by online travel company MakeMyTrip. About 50 per cent of the bookings are made by travellers in the 25-35 age group, says the report. “Long-haul destinations have registered higher growth this year compared to short-haul ones, with a significant 25 percent growth in the number of trips year-on-year,” said Mohit Gupta, chief operating officer, MakeMyTrip. Flipkart has announced its tie-up with MakeMyTrip for travel bookings. Through the partnership, users can now make travel bookings through MakeMyTrip’s services using Flipkart’s mobile application.
