Kuwait to commence commercial flights from today
Kuwait’s international airport will resume commercial flights to 20 countries from August 1. The resumption will be carried out in a three-stage re-opening, five months after it suspended operations due to the coronavirus pandemic. Flights will initially cover eight countries in the Middle East, including the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Lebanon; six in Europe, including the UK, Germany and Switzerland; five in Asia, including Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and the Philippines; and to Ethiopia as the lone African destination, Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement. Kuwait International Airport temporarily suspends air traffic
Photo Courtesy: Emirates24/7 Operations at Kuwait International Airport have come to a halt as weather conditions remain unstable and heavy downpour continues. “All flights departing from Kuwait international airport are suspended ‘Precautionary’, and arriving flights will be redirected to Dubai international airport, Bahrain international airport and Dammam airport” the Kuwaiti civil aviation said in a statement by state news agency KUNA. കുവൈത്ത് വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ ബാഗേജ് പരിശോധിക്കുന്നതിനു നൂതന സ്മാര്‍ട്ട് ഉപകരണങ്ങള്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതായി വിമാനത്താവളം ഡപ്യൂട്ടി ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറല്‍ ഫഹദ് സുലൈമാന്‍ അല്‍ വഖയാന്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 1000 ബാഗേജുകള്‍ പരിശോധിക്കാന്‍ ശേഷിയുള്ള മൂന്ന് ഉപകരണങ്ങളാണു സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. അവയില്‍ രണ്ടെണ്ണം ഈ ആഴ്ച പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചുതുടങ്ങും. മൂന്നാമത്തേതു റിസര്‍വ് ആയാകും കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുക. യാത്രക്കാര്‍ പുറപ്പെടുന്ന മേഖലയില്‍ ആറു കണ്‍വെയര്‍ ബെല്‍റ്റുകള്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതായും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ വേനലില്‍ കുവൈത്ത് വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ 12 ദശലക്ഷം യാത്രക്കാരുടെ ബഗേജുകള്‍ എളുപ്പത്തില്‍ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനുള്ള സംവിധാനങ്ങളാണ് ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളതെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
