The Kanyakumari district administration is planning to change the face of the Shivalokam tourist center near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. The plans are being prepared on the instructions of Tamil Nadu Tourism Principal Secretary Chandramohan. Two days ago, the Principal Secretary visited the tourist areas in the district. Alphons KJ, Union Minister for Tourism has announced Rs 32 crores worth tourism development projects in Kanyakumari. The project envisages different enhancement activities in the tourist center including a bridge between Vivekananda rock and Thiruvalluvar statue. Alphons has visited the site along with Pon Radhakrishnan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Shipping. Raviz Group of Hotels is planning to reinstate an ancient tourist circuit connecting southern Kerala with Tamil Nadu. This route, which will connect Kollam and Kovalam with Southern Tamil Nadu, was used by foreigners for tourism and trade purposes some 30 years ago. During 1970s and 80s the foreign tourists used to use the southern circuit to visit Kerala.
