സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ പ്രധാന വിനോദ സഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നായ തേക്കടി പഴയ പ്രൌഡിയിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചു പോകുന്നു. തേക്കടിയില്‍ ബോട്ട് സര്‍വീസ് പുനരാരംഭിച്ചു. പ്രളയത്തെതുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇടുക്കിയില്‍ വിനോദ സഞ്ചാരം കളക്ടര്‍ നിരോധിച്ചിരുന്നു. നിരോധനം നീക്കിയതും തേക്കടിയിലെ വിനോദസഞ്ചാര മേഖലയ്ക്കു തുണയായി. രാവിലെ ബോട്ട് സവാരി നടത്താന്‍ തേക്കടിയിലെ വിവിധ സംഘടനാ പ്രതിനിധികളും എത്തിയിരുന്നു. തേക്കടിയിലേക്കുള്ള റോഡുകള്‍ പലേടത്തും തകര്‍ന്നതാണ് വിനയായത്. മൂന്നാര്‍-തേക്കടി പാതയിലൂടെ വലിയ ബസുകള്‍ ഒഴികെയുള്ള വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വരാനാവുമെന്നു തേക്കടി ഡെസ്റ്റിനേഷന്‍ പ്രൊമോഷന്‍ കൗണ്‍സില്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി ജിജു ജയിംസ് ടൂറിസം ന്യൂസ് ലൈവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. പ്രളയകാലത്ത് ടിഡിപിസി അംഗങ്ങള്‍ മറ്റിടങ്ങളിലെ ദുരിതബാധിതരെ സഹായിക്കാന്‍ മുന്നിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു

There are a myriad number of organizations operating in tandem with the tourism/hospitality sector. But, very few of them do something meaningful to the tourism sector. Apart from development of tourism, at least some of them are showing profound interest in the sustainable development of the ecosystem. Thekkady Destination Promotion Council (TDPC) is such an organization striving for the development of tourism in the area, while taking considerate measures in conserving environment.

  ടൂറിസത്തെ വളർത്തുന്നതിൽ മാത്രമല്ല ചിലേടത്തെങ്കിലും ടൂറിസം രംഗത്തുള്ളവരുടെ ശ്രദ്ധ. ചുറ്റുമുള്ള പരിസ്ഥിതിയെക്കുറിച്ചും അവർക്ക് കരുതലുണ്ട്. അത്തരം കരുതലിന്റെ കാഴ്ചകളാണ് തേക്കടിയിൽ നിന്നുള്ളത്. ടൂറിസം രംഗത്തെ നല്ല പാഠമാണ് തേക്കടി ഡെസ്റ്റിനേഷൻ പ്രൊമോഷൻ കൗൺസിൽ (ടിഡിപിസി )നൽകുന്നത്. പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് രഹിത തേക്കടി ലോകത്തെങ്ങും വിനോദ സഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ നേരിടുന്ന പ്രധാന വെല്ലുവിളിയാണ് പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് മാലിന്യം. തേക്കടിയും ഇതിൽ നിന്ന് മുക്തമായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്നാൽ ടിഡിപിസി ഒരു വർഷം മുൻപ് എടുത്ത തീരുമാനം നിർണായകമായി. ടിഡിപിസി അംഗങ്ങളുടെ ഹോട്ടലുകളിലും റിസോർട്ടുകളിലും പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് കുപ്പിവെള്ളം ഒഴിവാക്കുക. ഇതോടെ തേക്കടിയിലെ മുൻനിര റിസോർട്ടുകളിൽ നിന്ന് പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് കുപ്പി വെള്ളം പടിയിറങ്ങി. ശുദ്ധജല പ്ലാന്റുകൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ചായിരുന്നു റിസോർട്ടുകൾ പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് കുപ്പികളിലെ വെള്ളത്തെ കെട്ടുകെട്ടിച്ചത്. ഒരു മാസം 26,630 കുപ്പിവെള്ളത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് തേക്കടി രക്ഷപെട്ടത്. കുപ്പിയേ വിട… കുഴലേ വിട… കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷം പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് കുപ്പികളിലെ വെള്ളത്തെ പടിയിറക്കിയ ടിഡിപിസി ഇത്തവണ പരിസ്ഥിതി ദിനത്തിൽ കണ്ണു വെച്ചത് പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് സ്ട്രോകളെയാണ്. ...
