Bihar plans relocation of blackbucks for their population management

Indian Blackbucks Indian Blackbucks (Antilope cervicapra) is one of the three species of antelopes found in Odisha, which are in the endangered list. In order to enhance the population of the black bucks, the authorities are planning to release some of them in the Chandaka forest on city outskirts this year. A set of recommendation for the development of the Odisha tourism industry have arisen from the 3rd Odisha Tourism Conclave that commenced on Friday, 24th August 2018 in Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha. “Now people can have tourism on the mobile handsets, but the growth is like on aeroplane mode. Odisha encourages local hoteliers to tie-up with International Brands

In order to enhance inbound foreign tourism, the Odisha tourism department is joining hands with the major state-based hoteliers to tap the franchise business model with leading brands like Hilton Group, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Radisson Hotels, Taj Group and Starwood. The tourism ministry hopes, collaboration with renowned hotel brands would help propagate Odisha as a global tourism destination. Odisha votes for sustainable eco-tourism in the state

With an aim to attract nature lovers to state, Odisha has laid focus on development of eco-tourism and sustainable practices in nature-based tourism. At a time when the state has introduced an eco-tourism policy, Forest Department has been declared as the nodal agency for development of eco-tourism in the State. “An eco-tourism scheme has been approved with the financial implication of Rs 56 crore for five years for its sustainable development and promotions,” said Tourism Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev. Odisha to launch luxury train service

Aiming to boost tourism in the state, Odisha Government is planning to launch a luxury train service in line with “Palace on Wheels.” The announcement came after a discussion between the Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi and Sanjiv Garg, additional member of the Railways (Tourism and Catering),  on June 28. “The railways had a word with the state government to introduce luxury trains in lines with the Palace on Wheels. Odisha Tourism offers world cup package

In a move to attract international tourists and boost the tourism prospective of Odisha, the state government plans to offer special tour packages to players, delegates and tourists during the men’s hockey world cup which is scheduled to be in November. The tourism department has been given the responsibility for framing the tour packages, which would be different from the ones that are being currently offered to the tourists. Odisha forms tourism promotion council

The Odisha government has formed a tourism promotion council to monitor the development of tourism and related issues in the state. The chief minister will head the council, which will also include two representatives from two major airlines operating in the state – AirAsia and Air India – apart from two representatives each from the hotel and travel industry. Tourist footfall in Odisha up by 38 per cent

The tourist inflow to Odisha in 2017-18 (till January) has increased by around 38 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of 2016-17 . Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, said that as many as 86,162 tourists from abroad visited Odisha in 2017-18 (till January) compared to 62,539 arrivals in 2016-17 in the corresponding period last year, registering 37.77 per cent growth over the previous fiscal. The tourist footfall of 2016-17 was 17.70 per cent more as compared to the corresponding period of 2015-16 where 53,133 foreign tourists had visited the state. Bhubaneswar Adivasi Mela on Jan 26

The annual tribal fair, Adivasi Mela, organized by the government of Odisha, is scheduled to be held on January 26. The event, which was held at the Adivasi Ground at Unit-1, will now be organised at the Idco Exhibition Ground at Unit-3 citing smooth traffic management and better parking facilities. The mela is gaining much attention as the localites are unhappy about the change in venue.
