Crystal clear water of Wah Umngot river at Dawki Meghalaya government is to rely more on tourism as the major revenue earner of the state, especially after the ban on coal mining by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The authorities are seeking possibilities of identifying new tourism spots in the state, in order to expand the scope of tourism further. German luxury car maker BMW said it will increase prices in India by up to 4 per cent with effect from January next year. The company sells a variety of vehicles in India ranging from SUV X1 to 7 Series sedan, priced between Rs 34.5 lakh and Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom). “From January 1, 2019, BMW India will increase the prices of its cars by up to 4 per cent,” BMW Group India Chairman Vikram Pawah said in a statement. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands hopes to keep tourism to move on, despite the alleged killing of the US national by aboriginal tribals on North Sentinel Island. MHA is planning to further liberalize e-visa for foreign visitors intending to go to the islands. The Goa Government has started work on developing two heritage tourism circuits in an attempt to showcase the state’s historical sites and promote tourism in the region.
