India ranks third in domestic air passenger traffic growth: IATA

The domestic market of India continues to perform strongly, again registering double digit growth over the year to February, according to International Air Transport Association (IATA). China and Russia topped the growth chart with 11.4 per cent and 10.1 per cent year-on-year growth rates respectively. This marks the 54th consecutive month of double-digit domestic RPK growth for India. A generally solid economic backdrop, combined with continued growth in the number of airport pairs have all contributed to this sustained growth performance. Korea Tourism Organisation signs MoU with OTOAI

The Korea tourism organisation (KTO) has signed an MOU with Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) to boost outbound traffic numbers from India to South Korea with a special focus on MICE. With this MOU, otoai will prioritise South Korea as a Focus Country for 2019. A book, titled, ‘Indian Friendly Restaurants in Korea’, was released on the occasion. Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra – the spiritual and life changing journey – to start on June 8

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, will take place between June 8 and September 8. The registration for the yatra began on Tuesday and applicants between 18-70 years of age can apply till May 9. Applicant should possess an ordinary Indian passport valid for at least six months as on 01 September of the current year. The yatra is through the routes of the Nathu La and the Lipulekh passes. DXB runway shut for repair; Air India, Air India Express to operate from Sharjah

Dubai International Airport’s (DXB) runway will be closed for repair work between April 16 and May 30. In view of this, Air India and Air India Express have announced a change in airport for some of their flights during the runway renovation period in Dubai International Airport. OYO to expand ‘Silver Key’ hotels to 19 cities in 2019

Hospitality firm OYO said it will be scaling its executive stays offering SilverKey to 19 cities across the country by the end of 2019. SilverKey hotels are currently operational in 10 cities such as Kolkata, Gurugram, Delhi, Noida, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Thiruvananthapuram, OYO said in a statement.
