Kumarakom, Hampi chosen as iconic tourist sites
The Ministry of Tourism has identified 17 sites in 12 clusters in the country for developing them as iconic tourist sites, the Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel has stated in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The 17 sites include the Taj Mahal & Fatehpur Sikri (Uttar Pradesh), Ajanta & Ellora (Maharashtra), Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort & Qutub Minar (Delhi), Colva (Goa), Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Somnath & Dholavira (Gujarat), Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Hampi (Karnataka), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Kaziranga (Assam), Kumarakom (Kerala) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar). കുറഞ്ഞ ചിലവില്‍ കുമരകം കാണാന്‍ ‘അവധിക്കൊയ്ത്ത്’
ലോക വിനോദസഞ്ചാര ഭൂപടത്തില്‍ ഇടംപിടിച്ച കുമരകത്തിന്റെ സൗന്ദര്യം കുറഞ്ഞചെലവില്‍ നുകരാനും അവസരം. സാധാരണക്കാര്‍ക്കും കുമരകത്തിന്റെ ഭംഗി ആസ്വദിക്കാനായാണ് ‘അവധിക്കൊയ്ത്ത്’ എന്ന പേരില്‍ കാര്‍ഷിക വിനോദ വിജ്ഞാനമേളയ്ക്ക് തുടക്കമിടുന്നത്. കുമരകം കൃഷി വിജ്ഞാനകേന്ദ്രത്തിലെ നൂറേക്കര്‍ സ്ഥലത്താണ് പദ്ധതി. പ്രാദേശിക കൃഷി ഗവേഷണകേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെയും മീനച്ചിലാര്‍ – മീനന്തറയാര്‍ – കൊടുരാര്‍ പുനര്‍സംയോജന പദ്ധതിയുടെ ജനകീയകൂട്ടായ്മയും കുമരകം പഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ സഹകരണത്തോടെയാണിത്. 20 രൂപയ്ക്ക് കുമരകത്തിന്റെ നേര്‍ക്കാഴ്ച ഗ്രാമീണഭംഗിയില്‍ കാണാന്‍ അവസരമൊരുങ്ങുന്നത്. ഏപ്രില്‍ 20 മുതല്‍ മേയ് 27 വരെ നടക്കുന്ന മേളയുടെ പ്രവേശന ഫീസ് 20 രൂപയാണ്. രണ്ടായിരത്തോളം തൊഴില്‍ദിനങ്ങള്‍ ചെലവഴിച്ച് തൊഴിലുറപ്പ് അംഗങ്ങള്‍ പദ്ധതിക്കായി പ്രദേശത്തെ ചാലുകളും തോടുകളും സൗന്ദര്യവത്കരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു. ഈ ചാലുകളില്‍ നാടന്‍ ഇനങ്ങളായ കാരി, മുഷി, മഞ്ഞക്കൂരി, വരാല്‍, കരിമീന്‍, വളര്‍ത്തുമത്സ്യങ്ങളായ കട്ല, രോഹു തുടങ്ങിയ ഇനങ്ങളെയും നിക്ഷേപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. നെല്ല്, മീന്‍, താറാവു കൃഷിയുടെ മാതൃകകള്‍, അക്വാപോണിക്, കൂണ്‍കൃഷി, മുട്ടക്കോഴി, കരിങ്കോഴി, ഇറച്ചിക്കോഴി തുടങ്ങിയവയുടെ മാതൃകാ യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍, ആടുകളുടെയും പോത്തുകളുടെയും ... Kumarakom needs collective effort to become global destination: Alphons
Kumarakom, chosen as one of the iconic destinations in India, needs collective effort to make it a world-class destination, opined Union Minister of State for Tourism KJ Alphons. He also pointed out that it can only be attained through the development of all panchayats in and around the Vembanad Lake. The minister was addressing a two-day stakeholder consultation programme held to discuss various issues related to the comprehensive tourism development programmes in Kumarakom.
