Indian Tourism Industry feels left out yet again in the union budget and terms it disappointing

The tourism and travel industry of India was among the worst-hit industries since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The industry has pinned great hopes on the union budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. Soon after the budget presentation, the tourism industry was more or less unanimous in saying that the budget has not lived up to the expectations of the industry. Sources confirmed that the Ministry of Tourism and the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH), after several postponements are working towards, holding the flagship annual B2B event, India Tourism Mart (ITM), to promote Incredible India, in February 2021. Considering the long Christmas and New Year holidays in the important source markets like Europe, the organizers have decided to shift the event to the mid of February so that more international buyers can participate in the B2B event. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is believed to have started preliminary discussions with the major players of the insurance sector as well as the  Ministry of Finance exploring the possibilities of introducing travel Insurance to boost the confidence of international visitors. Indian govt should urge the United States to revise negative travel advisory immediately: FAITH

The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) has requested India’s Tourism Minister and the Ministry of External Affairs to seek an immediate revision of the negative travel advisory issued by the United States. The USA has issued a travel advisory, rated Level 4 for India. On a scale of 1-4 this is the highest level of risk rating, carrying with it the advice of ‘do not travel’. The level four advisory advises the US citizens not to travel to India due to COVID-19. The previously highlighted concerns that are mentioned include terrorism and crimes against women. FAITH ... FAITH urges govt to conduct India Tourism Mart in November

The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) has requested the Indian government to conduct India Tourism Mart (ITM) at the end of November this year. Subhash Goyal, Honorary General Secretary, FAITH interacted virtually with the Minister of Tourism,  Prahlad Singh Patel, where he proposed multi-step strategies for revival of tourism. These issues were identified to enhance tourism demand while protecting tourism supply in India. FAITH revises risk guidance, fears 4 crore job losses

The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH), the nodal federation of all the national tourism associations, has revised the sector’s economic risk guidance to ₹15 lakh crore in view of the coronavirus situation. In its initial guidance, which was calculated and shared with the industry and the Central government in March, the federation had put the tourism sector’s economic risk at ₹5-lakh crore due to the pandemic. Later, it was revised upwards to Rs 10 lakh crore, as the situation worsened. Now, the figure has been further revised to ₹15-lakh crore as the pandemic continues to ravage the sector. FAITH ... FAITH pegs industry loss due to pandemic at Rs 10 lakh crore

The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) — the nodal federation of all the national associations representing the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors in India — has estimated a loss of Rs 10 lakh crores to the industry, as a result of the pandemic. The federation presented the revised guidance during a meeting with the Empowered Group-6 (EG-6), an inter-ministerial panel set up by the government and headed by Niti Aayog chief executive Amitabh Kant. The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) has kickstarted promotions for the first India Tourism Mart.
