Chardham yatra to begin on Saturday

The Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand will begin on Saturday after its prolonged suspension due to COVID-19. A day after the Uttarakhand High Court vacated its stay on Chardham Yatra, the state government on Friday issued a detailed SOP to start the yatra from Saturday with strict adherence to COVID-19 norms. Imposing a daily limit on the number of pilgrims visiting the Himalayan temples, the SOP put a cap of 1,000 pilgrims daily on Badrinath, 800 on Kedarnath, 600 on Gangotri and 400 on Yamunotri. Fairs, exhibitions to be allowed in Delhi from Thursday

Public fairs and exhibitions will be allowed in Delhi from Thursday, under a phased reopening of economic activities interrupted by the lockdown during the second wave of COVID-19 in the city. In an order issued on Wednesday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said banquet halls in the city will be allowed to hold such exhibitions and fairs. Tigress gives birth to 2 cubs in Panna reserve

An eight-year-old tigress has given birth to two cubs in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna Tiger Reserve, a senior forest official said. The tiger reserve management had the information about the birth of the cubs of tigress named T-234, but they were captured on cameras for the first time last week, Panna Tiger Reserve’s (PTR) field director Uttam Kumar Sharma told reporters on Tuesday. A newly-wed couple converted the guesthouse of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh into a honeymoon cottage, inviting widespread condemnation and criticism. Stung by it, the university management on Saturday constituted an internal committee headed by its Rector to probe into the alleged misuse of the guesthouse. Taj Mahal to reopen for night viewing from Saturday

After remaining closed for over a year for night viewing, the Taj Mahal will open from August 21 for visitors who want to explore the marble monument under the moonlight, officials said on Friday. Night viewing of the monument had closed on March 17, 2020, during the first lockdown due to COVID-19. The famous Naini Lake in North Delhi has opened. Tourists can now enter this place which is very popular for boating. Mumbai is gearing up to recapture the tourism sector that has suffered heavy losses due to covid. Good news for travelers! No need special permission to go to protected areas in Ladakh!

The Union Territory of Ladakh has lifted the terms of its Inner Line Permit to attract more domestic tourists. Indian tourists no longer need special permits to enter here. An Inner Line Permit is prior permission to visit protected areas along the China-Pakistan border. In a notification issued yesterday, the Ladakh UT Home Department completely removed the requirement for ILP to visit notified protected areas for Indian citizens, including domestic tourists and local residents. Protected monuments will be reopened from tomorrow

Monuments under the Archaeological Survey, which were closed for two months following the spread of covid second wave, are being reopened. The Archaeological Survey of India has announced that protected monuments across the country will be re-opened from June 16. The Archaeological Survey of India said there would be no direct booking to visit the monuments and that admission tickets could be purchased online. Last year, 3,691 protected areas under the Archaeological Survey of India were closed due to the covid.
