Protected monuments will be reopened from tomorrow

Monuments under the Archaeological Survey, which were closed for two months following the spread of covid second wave, are being reopened. The Archaeological Survey of India has announced that protected monuments across the country will be re-opened from June 16. The Archaeological Survey of India said there would be no direct booking to visit the monuments and that admission tickets could be purchased online. Last year, 3,691 protected areas under the Archaeological Survey of India were closed due to the covid.

Covid: The country’s historical monuments will be closed till May 15

Historical monuments under the Central Archaeological Department will be closed till May 15 due to the outbreak of the covid virus in the country. The closure applies to monuments, museums, and sites under the ASI. The order was issued by the Central Department of Culture. All monuments and sites maintained by the Central Archaeological Department were closed last year due to the corona virus outbreak. The daily number of covid-19 cases in India has doubled in ten days. 2 lakh new cases have been registered.

Rs 411 cr allocated for conservation of protected monuments in 2018-19

Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi An amount of Rs 41,127.86 lakh (Rs 411.27 crore) was allocated for conservation of 3,687 protected monuments during 2018-19 under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), informedĀ  Minister of State for Culture, Mahesh Sharma. “The conservation work on protected monuments of National importance in the country, under ASI, is attended regularly as per the requirements of different sites and availability of resources and they are in a fairly good state of preservation.
