Thailand extends visa-on-arrival fee waiver until April 30

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced extension of the visa-on-arrival fee waiver for citizens of 20 countries until 30 April 2019. The decision was announced in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 11 January, reasoning it as a measure to stimulate and promote tourism as well as to enhance the kingdom’s attractiveness among foreign visitors during the high travel season. “The extension of the stimulus visa-on-arrival measure came at a perfect time as Thailand is set to celebrate Chinese New Year in February and the Thai New Year (Songkran) in April,” said Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism ... Thailand waives visa-on-arrival fees to enhance tourism

Thailand’s cabinet approved a measure to waive for two months fees paid by visitors for visas on arrival, with an objective to boost tourism, which was hit by a drop in visitors from China, its biggest market. The fee of 2,000 baht (USD 60) will be waived between December 1 and January 31 for travellers from 21 countries, including China, Taiwan, India and Saudi Arabia, government spokesman Puttiphong Punnakan told the media. Thailand to announce stimulus package to woo Chinese tourists

Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand said on Saturday, 27th October 2018 that new measures will be announced next month to lure tourists back to the country, especially those from China. Somkid said measures in the package would include a tax measure for jewellery purchases, a tourism package with free flights to second-tier tourist provinces and a waiver fee for visa-on-arrival. “The cabinet to approve a stimulus package in the second half of November. Thailand records increase in tourist arrivals; 2.66 mn FTAs in Sep

Thailand has witnessed a 2.13 per cent increase in tourist arrivals in September compared to the same period last year.  “The number of Chinese visitors declined for three consecutive months,” said the Tourism Ministry in a statement. There were 2.66 million foreign tourists in September, which helped generate ฿140 billion (RM17 billion), said the statement. Tourists from East Asia accounted for about 73 per cent of all arrivals. However, the number of Chinese tourists in September dropped by almost 15% from a year earlier. The number has been declining since a boat accident in July, which killed 47 Chinese visitors. ... Thailand forecasts 40 mn tourists next year

Thailand Tourism is all set to expand through next year, with at least 10 per cent growth in the revenue from this year, fetching some 3.4 trillion baht. “Strong growth is anticipated from both the international and domestic markets. Next year, the international market should generate income of B2.28 trillion, while the domestic market should contribute B1.12 trillion,” said Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Yuthasak Supasorn. Thailand to host Asia music festival in Koh Samui Island

With an aim to attract more tourists, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is all set to host a two-day Asia music festival on August 18 in southern Thai island of Koh Samui. Thailand is one of the most preferred destinations for the travellers. Reports confirm that Thailand’s tourism industry is flying high with Chinese and Indian tourists attributing the major providers of revenue. The period January-April recorded a total of 13.7 million tourists, registering a growth of 13.9 per cent when compared with same period last year. Chinese tourists in Thailand surged to a record 1.2 million in February

Visitors from China surged to a record 1.2 million in February, swelled by the Lunar New Year holiday period. Thailand expects 38 million tourists overall this year, more than 10 million from China. China’s outbound travel market raked up 130 million trips in 2017, a 7 per cent increase on 122 million trips recorded in 2016. Thailand expects 8% increase in tourism revenue
