Nepal gets ready to commence adventure tourism

Nepal’s Tourism Ministry has said that it would let all tourism related activities including mountain climbing during autumn. The Nepal government has already announced that it will resume all domestic and international flights from August 17. Nepal likely to start international flights from August

The Nepal government is planning to resume domestic and international flight operations from next month with the country making steady progress in its fight against the coronavirus outbreak. The Tourism Ministry is working on a tentative plan to start domestic flights from August 5 and international flights from August 17, an official close to tourism minister Yogesh Bhattarai told news agency PTI. The first round of flights will be to and from capital Kathmandu, he said. Bardia Natonal Park is awarded as the best sustainable destination in Asia-Pacific region at the Green Destinations Gala, an initiative that recognizes innovation and good practices in tourism management of destinations. Nepal plans to double tourist footfalls by 2020

The tourism board of the Nepal Government said it is planning to attract two million tourists to the country by 2020. Nepal registered nearly 25 per cent growth in the number of visitors from India in 2017. The Nepal Tourism registered over two lakh visitors from India that year. The Indian market will continue to be one of the main contributors of international visitors to Nepal. At present, about one million visitors travel to Nepal a year from different countries. Nepal Tourism has appointed former Member of Parliament of India and cine artist Jaya Prada has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the promotion of tourism in the country. A ministerial-level meeting of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation appointed the 60-year-old Indian actress as the tourism Goodwill Ambassador for four years, informed Ministry spokesperson Ghanshyam Upadhyay. With an aim to attract more Chinese travellers, Nepal has launched an interactive tourism website, in Chinese language to attract more Chinese tourists. Nepali Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari launched a customized website www.welcomenepal.cn which is an initiative of Nepal Tourism Board, the main tourism promotion body, to communicate in Chinese language. Tourist arrivals in Nepal hits 3 lakh in three months

Around three lakh tourists arrived by air to Nepal in the first three months of 2018. The latest figures on tourist arrivals by air route were released by the Department of Immigration. As per the data, 286,882 tourists arrived in Nepal via air route in January, February and March. The highest number of tourists arrived from China with forty thousand Chinese tourists arriving in Nepal via air in these three months.
