Delhi Airport to start ‘express check-in’ for handbag-only passengers at T2

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi, is planning to roll out express check-in counter service for air passengers taking domestic flights from the airport. The service can only be availed by travellers with handbags as luggage. The airport will introduce this facility by April 2019 at Terminal 2, where low-cost airlines such as Indigo, SpiceJet and GoAir operate. The facility is expected to be extended to Terminals 1 and 3 in future. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to be plastic-free by 2019

The country’s busiest airport in Delhi, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), will go plastic-free by 2019. The airport has already started saying no to plastic for grocery bags, food packaging, bottles, straws, containers, cups and cutlery. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has said the initiative is in line with India’s pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in the country by 2022. DIAL has started awareness campaigns, enhancing waste management systems and promoting the use of eco-friendly sustainable alternatives progressively. Ukraine Airlines launches direct flights to India

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) plans to operate daily direct flights between New Delhi and Ukraine’s capital Kiev from next year.  The carrier has started operating non-stop flight between the two cities from May 1, with thrice a week service. From June 7, the frequency of flights will grow to four flights a week. The airline has announced an inaugural return fare of Rs 27,500 in the economy and Rs 1,14,000 for return Business class. “We are opening 80,000 seats between two capital cities in a year,” said Sergey Fomenko, Vice President – Commerce, UIA. Alliance Air begins Delhi-Pathankot service

Alliance Air has started thrice-a-week flight service on the Delhi-Pathankot Delhi route. Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated first flight from Delhi to Pathankot (Punjab), at a ceremony held at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The carrier’s ATR aircraft will operate on this sector on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday under the flagship regional connectivity scheme,  Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN).
