ഒരു പകലിന്റെ ക്ഷീണം മുഴുവന്‍ ഇറക്കിവെച്ച് വൈകുന്നേരം വീട്ടിലേക്ക് എത്തുമ്പോള്‍ നമ്മളെ കാത്തൊരു കത്തിരിക്കുന്നത് ഒന്നു ചിന്തിച്ച് നോക്കൂ… എത്ര മനോഹരമായിരിക്കും ആ അനുഭവം. ആ കത്ത് ലോകത്തെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരം കൂടിയ പോസ്റ്റോഫീസില്‍ നിന്നാണെങ്കിലോ ആകാംഷ നമുക്ക് അടക്കാനാവില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ അങ്ങനെയൊരു പോസ്റ്റോഫീസുണ്ട്. സമുദ്രനിരപ്പില്‍ നിന്നും 15,500 അടി ഉയരത്തിലാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഹിമാചല്‍ പ്രദേശിലെ സ്പിറ്റി വാലിയിലെ ഖാസയില്‍ നിന്നും 23 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരെയാണ് ഹിക്കിം എന്ന ഗ്രാമം. 1983ല്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച പോസ്റ്റോഫീസാണ് ഹിക്കിമിലേത്. ആരംഭം മുതല്‍ ഇവിടെ ഒരേയൊരും പോസ്റ്റ്മാനേയുള്ളു റിന്‍ചെന്‍ ചെറിംഗ്. തന്റെ 22ാം വയസ്സില്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ സേവനം ഇന്നും അദ്ദേഹം തുടരുന്നു. തപാല്‍ കവറുകളും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈകളും തമ്മില്‍ ഇന്നും പിരിയാന്‍ സാധിക്കാത്ത സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെ പോലെയാണ്. 161 നിവാസികള്‍ മാത്രമുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ പട്ടണം. ആശയവിനിമയത്തിന് ടെലിഫോണോ ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റോ ഇല്ലാത്ത നാട്. അവിടെ കത്തല്ലാതെ മറ്റ് മാര്‍ഗങ്ങളില്ല. താഴ്‌വരയിലെ മറ്റ് പോസ്റ്റോഫീസുകളെ പോളെ ... To boost the tourism sector, Himachal government is planning to encourage ‘Heli-Taxi’ services at major tourist destinations, a senior official said today. Presiding over a meeting of the officials of aviation companies including Pawan Hans Limited, Skyone Airways, Ind Jet and hospitality players, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Manisha Nanda said at present the state has three functional airports at Gaggal, Shimla and Bhuntar. “Work was in progress to facilitate the tourists and common people at Rampur and Jhakri in Shimla, Baddi in district Solan, Pandoh in Mandi and Manali in Kullu under Uddan-II scheme,” she said.
