Navi Mumbai airport to be ready by 2020; Nagpur to be developed aviation hub

The Navi Mumbai Airport in Maharashtra is expected to be inaugurated by 2020. “We hope the airport will be ready by late 2019 or early 2020,” said Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of the state, while speaking at the Global Aviation Summit in Mumbai. Mahindra Lifespaces to develop medical tourism hub in Murud

Murud, Maharashtra Maharashtra state government has inked an agreement with realty firm Mahindra Lifespaces to develop the coastal town of Murud in Raigad district as a medical tourism and wellness destination. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 500 crore and it is expected to generate around 6,000 job opportunities. Deep Mangal Developers, subsidiary of Mahindra Lifespace Developers (MLDL), will be executing the eco-friendly project in an area of 1,300-acre; which is expected to be the largest medical and wellness tourism investment in the state. Maharashtra coast to be developed as tourism hotspot: Suresh Prabhu

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, has written to Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, K J Alphons, and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, for developing Maharashtra coast as a tourist hotspot. He said that the marine leisure sector is the fastest growing segment of the travel industry and growth of cruise ship industry, seaside destination resorts, marine parks, scuba diving and aquariums. Kolhapur airport gets a new name

Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, passed a resolution to rename the Kolhapur airport as ‘Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj airport’. Moving across political boundaries, the chair passed the resolution without any deny, sending it to the Centre for sanctioning. There has been a long-term demand from the people of Kolhapur to rename the airport, as Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj used to be the main architect behind the infrastructural development of Kolhapur, including the airport.
