Tourist’s flow to Rwanda’s gorilla park declines due to price hike

Volcanoes Gorilla National Park, Rwanda Gorilla tourism is one of the major sources of revenue for Rwanda. As per the WWF conservation group the number of the mountain gorillas are around 600 in the Virunga Massif, a mountainous area encompassing parts of Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. Tourists can watch gorillas from short distance, in their natural habitat at the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Rwanda’s tourism sector in an upward swing

Mount Muhavura, on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. Rwanda’s tourism sector shows a positive trend as per the latest report by Rwanda Development Board (RDB). Last year the tourism sector generated revenue of USD 438 million, which is about 50 per cent of all service exports. In terms of the source of the revenue, the East African Community became the highest source of revenue across all categories with 25 per cent of the total revenue.  Europe contributed 22 per cent, while the rest of Africa generated 21 per cent. Cross border tourism programme launched in Uganda

The Hashers, a cross border community association in Kabale-Uganda, has launched a new campaign aimed at promoting tourism and trade between Uganda and Rwanda. About 50 members of Kabale hashers group, together with 52 members from Rwanda-Kigaly walkers group, launched the joint group to promote community tourism and healthy living on Sunday, 1st July 2018 Mount Muhavura, on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. Ethiopia to allow visa free entry to all Africans

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced the country will “very soon” follow Rwanda’s example allowing all Africans to travel to the country without visa. The policy will open up the east African country to African visitors, and it will boost tourism. The plan was announced during a state banquet hosted by Prime Minister Abiy for Rwandan President Paul Kagame who is in Ethiopia on a three-day official visit.
