India’s semi-high speed train ‘Vande Bharat Express’ to make its maiden run today

India’s much-awaited locally manufactured semi high-speed train ‘Vander Bharat Express’ (coded as Train 18), will make its maiden run on 15th February 2019.  The train is built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) of Chennai under PM’s ‘Make in India’ programme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train on New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route from the New Delhi Railway Station. However, there will not be any festivities and the train will run without any flower decorations, on the event of terror attack in Pulwama, Kashmir last night. India’s engine-less train to be on tracks from September 2018

India’s first engine-less train will roll on the tracks from September this year for trial run. The Train-18 is a semi-high speed self-propelled trains like Metro trains and can run at a speed of 160 kmph. All new luxurious T-18 coaches will be replacing existing Shatabdi coaches and coaches of intercity trains. As per reports , Mumbai may get the first set of T-18 coaches. Train 18 to change the face of Indian Railways by September

The train is built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) of Chennai under PM’s Make in India programme. It is capable of running at a speed of 160 km per hour. Indian Railways will replace Shatabdi Express trains with its first engine-less semi-high speed train for inter-city travel in June this year. The train boasts of world-class amenities and has been completely manufactured in Chennai under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious ‘Make in India’ programme. The train that has been codenamed ‘Train 18’ after the year its year of manufacture, is self-propelled like the Metro trains and capable of traveling at speeds of 160 kmph.
