Balmer Lawrie signs MoU with KTDC, to provide accommodation for all its customers

Balmer Lawrie,a miniratna public sector unit (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) and a market leader in corporate travel management, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). In a press release, the company said that Balmer Lawrie Travel & Vacations (T&V) through this agreement will now offer accommodation facilities to all its institutional and retail customers at KTDC star hotels including heritage properties at attractive and discounted tariffs in Kerala. Chartered flights from Gulf countries to carry only non-Covid passengers from June 20

The Kerala government has made it mandatory for those boarding chartered flights to produce a certificate stating they have tested negative for Covid-19. Over one lakh expatriates are expected to reach Kerala from West Asian countries on chartered flights in coming weeks. The state has so far given sanction for 750 chartered flights. The direction by principal secretary E Ellangovan stated that this condition applies to all flights for which consent letters have been issued earlier. On Friday afternoon, Kerala Tourism tweeted what seemed like an innocuous comment. The tweet read, “The loyal fans of the Malabar cuisine simply cannot keep their #handsoffporotta, lockdown or not. Share your favourite porotta recipes with us.” But soon, it became apparent that it had reference to a news report that frozen porotta attracts 18% Goods & Services Tax (GST) as opposed to the earlier 5%. Rs 20,000 for a chartered flight seat on this route

With this, around 1.25 lakh people from Gulf countries are likely to reach the state shortly. International flyers coming into Kerala can directly go for 14 days of home quarantine

International passengers flying into Kerala can directly observe 14 days of home quarantine, without having to spend a week in institutional quarantine. Passengers who wish to stay separately can avail the government’s paid quarantine facilities, which will be arranged in a hotel or tourist home.  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that those who are allowed home quarantine must arrange their own private vehicles or e-taxis. Sagara Beach Resort, Kovalam, will be open to guests from today. The popular beach resort was closed in line with the directions from the government, in order to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Kerala decides to waive off 25% of fixed electricity charges for 3 months for industrial consumers

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to waive off 25% of the fixed electricity charges applicable to industrial consumers and private hospitals for the months of March, April and May. Further, a decision was taken to defer payment of the remaining amount (75%) till December this year, without levying any interest. Kochi airport to operate 100 plus flights in a week, during first phase of operations

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has announced that it will operate more than 100 flights in a week. During the first phase of operations from May 25 to June 30, there will be flight services to and from Kochi, Lakshadweep, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kannur, Mumbai, Mysore and Pune. Kerala releases SOP for domestic flyers, who will now need a travel permit

The Kerala government has released a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for domestic airline travel. The government has asked all the returnees to register themselves on the ‘COVID-19 Jagratha’ portal after obtaining a flight ticket to get a travel permit. The travel permit will then be issued along with a QR Code on the registered mobile number and email. The same will have to be presented to the airline staff before the boarding passes are given.
