Telangana comes up with new plan to form tourism circuit

In a new initiative to attract international tourists to Telangana, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF) and Telangana Forest Department are working closely to identify potential vacation spots to form a tourism circuit. The districts where tourism spots are being explored include Sangareddy, Siddipet, Medak, Kamareddy and Adilabad. The USAID, which selected Medak district under its Forest Plus 2.0 to improve greenery in the forest area, has identified immense tourism potential in Telangana. Telengana Tourism organizes Rachakonda Tourism Festival

The three-day Rachakonda Tourism Festival kick started on Sunday, 2nd March 2019 at the historic Rachakonda Fort. The event is organized by Telangana State Tourism in association with Language Cultural Department and Rachakonda Historical Environmental Tourism Conservation Committee (Rachappa Samiti) to bring the rich heritage of Rachakonda Fort into the limelight and to attract tourists. Rachappa Committee President Bidula Krishna Kumar Jyoti Prasad inaugurated the festival. Kerala has been favourite destination for tourists from Telengana

Kerala has been the favourite destination for Telugu people during 2018. As per records, around 1.26 lakh tourists from Telangana visited Kerala during the year, citing an increase of 27 per cent tourist footfall from the state, when compared to the previous year. It was informed by VS Anil, Deputy Director, Kerala Tourism Department, while talking in a B2B meeting in Hyderabad. “Meanwhile, 13 per cent increase in tourist base was registered from the neighboring State of Andhra Pradesh to Kerala during 2018,” he added. Tourist and heritage sites in Telengana to be tobacco free

Telengana government plans to ban tobacco in all the tourism destinations of the state. As part of implementing ban on tobacco in public places, Sunita M Bhagwat, the Commissioner, Department of Tourism, has sought declaration of all the tourist and heritage precincts managed by the department in the State as ‘Tobacco Free’. She wrote letters to the Managing Director, Telengana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), Director, Heritage Telangana, and also the Commissioners of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in this regard.
