Rwanda slashes gorilla trekking fees to lure tourists

Rwanda has slashed gorilla permit fees by 60-80% as the government endeavours to revive the tourism sector adversely hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park will now cost foreign nationals $500, while Rwandan citizens and foreign residents will pay $200, down from $1,400. The new price regime is valid until December 31. The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting, chaired by President Paul Kagame. Rwanda signs MoU with Alibaba to lure Chinese tourists

Chinese tourists can now directly book a tour package to Rwanda on the online travel platform of Alibaba. It was announced by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) on Wednesday in a statement. The launch of ‘Visit Rwanda’ pavilion on Alibaba’s travel arm, Fliggy, followed the launch of the Chinese e-commerce giant’s Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) in October, which aims at promoting tourism in Rwanda. Rwanda invites Chinese investors and tourists to visit the country

Rwanda and China officials at the Rwanda Week in China The Rwanda Development Board (RDB), in association with the Embassy of Rwanda in China, has organised a road-shows in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and the Dongguan Province to showcase Rwanda’s investment and tourism opportunities to Chinese investors. The event named Rwanda Week in China, entailed investor forums in Beijing and Shenzhen that attracting over 400 companies as well as one-on-one sessions with targeted Chinese investors and tour operators. Rwanda to be Arsenal’s first ever travel partner

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) announced that the central African country has become the official tourism partner of English Premier League giants Arsenal FC. The agreement is signed for three years. The ‘Visit Rwanda’ logo will be featured on the left sleeve of all first team, under-23 and Arsenal Women’s matches in the new season for these three years.  Rwanda will now hold the distinction of being Arsenal’s first ever tourism partner.
