സൗദി അറേബ്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ വിനോദനഗര പദ്ധതിയായ ഖിദ്ദിയയ്ക്ക് സൗദി ഭരണാധികാരി സല്‍മാന്‍ രാജാവ് ശിലാസ്ഥാപനം നടത്തി. റിയാദിന്‍റെ തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് ലോകോത്തര നിലവാരത്തിലാണ് വിനോദനഗരം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നത്. 334 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ വിസ്തൃതിയിലാണ് വിനോദനഗരം ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്. വിനോദം, സംസ്‌കാരം, കായികം തുടങ്ങി മൂന്ന് മേഖലകള്‍ തിരിച്ചാണ് നിര്‍മാണം നടത്തുന്നത്. തീം പാര്‍ക്ക്, മോട്ടോര്‍ സ്‌പോര്‍ട്‌സ്, സഫാരി പാര്‍ക്ക് തുടങ്ങിയവ ഇതില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടും. ഒന്നാംഘട്ടം നാലുവര്‍ഷത്തിനകം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകും. കിരീടാവകാശി മുഹമ്മദ് ബിന്‍ സല്‍മാന്‍ രാജകുമാരന്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച വിഷന്‍ 2030 പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായാണ് നഗരം ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്. എണ്ണയിതര വരുമാനം വര്‍ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമായുള്ള വിവിധ പദ്ധതികളില്‍ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതാണ് ഖിദ്ദിയ. ഷോപ്പിങ്, ഹോസ്​പിറ്റാലിറ്റി മേഖലകള്‍കൂടി വികസിക്കുന്നതോടെ 2030 ആകുമ്പോഴേക്കും 1.7 കോടി സന്ദര്‍ശകര്‍ ഖിദ്ദിയയില്‍ എത്തുമെന്നാണ് കരുതുന്നത്.

The new architecture’s foundation stone ceremony was done by Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
