GST Council lowers tax rate on hotel tariffs

Ibis Kolkata The GST Council, headed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and comprising representatives of all states and Union Territories, met today in Goa. The GST Council has agreed to lower tax rates imposed on the hotel industry. The 37th meeting of the GST Council has decided to tax hotels with room tariff of Rs 7,500 and above at 18 per cent instead of the earlier 28 per cent. Union Budget 2019: 17 iconic places to be developed into world-class destinations

Brahmos supersonic missile tested at Pokhran

BrahMos, the supersonic cruise missile of India, has been successfully tested from Rajasthan’s Pokhran test range earlier today. “The precision strike weapon with Indian-made seeker flew in its designated trajectory, and hit the target with pinpoint accuracy,” tweeted Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Defence Minister. The incredible supersonic missile travels three times the speed of sound, with a range of over 290 kilometres.
