Austria witnesses 8.6 per cent growth in Indian arrivals in 2018

Strengthening its presence in the Indian market, Austria has registered 8.6 per cent growth in the number of tourists from India in 2018. The country welcomed 1.9 lakh visitors in 2018. The Vienna Tourism Board added that it had also received 7.7 per cent more Indians in 2018. Of its inbound tourism numbers, Vienna saw 7.5 million arrivals from across the globe, 6 per cent up compared to the previous year. 150 skiers rescued from Austrian chairlift

More than 150 people had to be rescued from a ski lift in Austria after it faced a mechanical problem at Kreischberg ski resort in Styria, Austria. Several helicopters were called to help move skiers out of the chairlift, with a majority of the seats suspended more than 50ft above ground. A number of British tourists were among those rescued by the Austrian Armed Forces rescue helicopter. It took almost three hours for the team to rescue the skiers.
