Tourism minister to launch tomorrow a new online project to promote regional travel

The Kerala Tourism Department is trying to promote regional tourism through its new initiative called ‘Keralam Kanam’ or ‘Let’s see Kerala’, in which the people of the state are encouraged to visit the backwaters, beaches, hill stations and houseboats to get over the stress caused by the pandemic.

The official launch of the online project www.malayaliyatra.com will be done by Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran on August 26 (Wednesday) at 12.30 pm via a video conference.

With the COVID-19 devastating the tourism industry, the Kerala Tourism Department is trying its best to recapture the past glory of the industry. It is hoped that the ‘Let’s see Kerala’ campaign will give a new lease of life to the Kerala tourism industry, which has been shut for the past six months.

Taking full advantage of this opportunity, and to develop regional tourism, the Association of Tourism Trade Organisations India (ATTOI) looks forward to the cooperation of all in this project. The campaign, conceived by ATTOI, complies with all the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, the Central Government, the Government of Kerala and the World Travel & Tourism Council.

This will be a new tourism venture with a new tourism culture for the participating tour operators, hotel and resorts, ATTOI said. “Through this project, your travel experiences will blossom and you will be able to get relief from the mental stress you have been experiencing for the past few months and will open a livelihood for the lakhs of people in Kerala who have been without income for a long time,” ATTOI added.
