Korea Tourism Organisation to organize two-day festival in Mumbai

Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) is organizing a two-day Korea festival showcasing Korea’s rich art, culture and heritage on 13 -14 April at High Street Phoenix in Mumbai. Prior to the festival, a press conference will be held on 12th April, 2019 to announce KTO’s business plans for the year.

Organised by KTO, the two-day extravaganza aims to popularize South Korea as a hot favourite destination among Indian travellers by giving a glimpse into the rich Korean culture. The aim is to acquaint Indian tourists with famous South Korean tourist destinations, delicacies, local culture and the country’s modern legacy.

“Indian outbound travel to South Korea is on the rise. In 2018, approximately 100,000 Indian travellers visited South Korea and the numbers are growing with an average rate of 10-15 per cent year on year. While the number of Indians travelling abroad has increased three-fold in the last one decade, there are a lot of offerings from South Korea which are still unexplored and unexperienced. Such festivals help in a great way to fortify and deepen the understanding,” said Jeong ha, Vice President KTO.

“South Korea is a land of natural beauty and offers an unadulterated tinge of adventure to international travellers. We hope to reach a larger section of aspiring Indian travellers and tap into exponentially growing Indian tourism sector through the Korea festival. We are positive that the endeavour will highlight Korean splendour in its true spirit to our Indian friends,” said Jong Sool Kwon, Korea Tourism Organisation, New Delhi Director.

The Key highlights at the event include live stage performances by Korean artists such as IN2IT (K-pop boy group) Alexandra, Gamblerz Crew (B-Boying group), Queen (Fusion music group), Taekwondo show and Indian K-pop cover dance which will enthrall the audience.

The festival will also witness participation from Gimhae City (the land where Indian Princess Heo married the Korean prince, Gyeonggi Province (the region to which Dematerialized Zone belongs), Incheon Airport (the winner of best airport worldwide by ACI) and Jeju Island – (the only Island amongst the New 7 wonders of Nature) to promote their respective tourist attractions.

To promote the film tourism in Korea, Seoul Film Commission and Korea Film Commission will be a part of the festival’s B2B programme. At the same dates, two-day Korea Movie Weekend is also being organized by Korean Culture Centre at the PVR Juhu for everyone to enjoy Korean cinema.
