7th edition of Bhairabkunda festival to be held from January 8, 2019

The seventh edition of Bhairabkunda festival will be held with a five-day spectacular event from January 8, 2019 at Bhairabkunda, a picturesque tri-junction located in the Himalayan foothills of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan. It is also known for the Shiva temple, where thousands of pilgrims visit for prayers and poojas. The picturesque location is also renowned among photography enthusiasts and honeymooners.

The objective of the event is to exploit the unexplored tourism potential of Bhairabkunda and to register its unmatched natural beauty on the tourism map of the country.

The decision to conduct the event has taken in a general meeting held at Bhairabkunda tourism development centre on Saturday. A reception-cum-festival management committee was formed for the successful implementation of the event. State Minister Rihon Daimari has elected as the President of the committee. Tridip Daimari (Speaker of BTC Assembly), and Ripen Daimari  (MCLA of Bhairabkunda BTC constituency), have become the working president and secretary, respectively.

‘The Bhairabkunda festival would reflect the age-old bond of fraternity, unity and integrity among the diverse ethnic linguistic groups, including those from neighbouring Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, and its mission was to give an exposure to the tourism prospects, self-employment opportunities for the educated unemployed youths and to promote communal harmony and tranquility in the region,” said the organizing committee members.

One of the highlight of the event is the cultural exchange programmes among Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Other than the traditional cultural events, para gliding, elephant safari and an ethnic food exhibition will also be arranged in the event.
