Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018 – a feast of flowery delight

FLORIA Wonder Garden

Good news for flower enthusiasts! Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2018, the flower and garden festival of Malaysia is commencing on 25th August and will conclude on 2nd September 2018. The annual flower festival is happening at Precinct 4, Putrajaya in Malaysia.

The Royal Floria Putrajaya is Malaysia’s largest flower and garden festival. It started in the year 2007 as a two-yearly event organised by Perbadanan Putrajaya. Later it has become an annual event from 2010. The event is hosted by Putrajaya Corporation (Perbadanan Putrajaya or PPj) in association with the Federal Territories Ministry, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, and Tourism Malaysia.

Floria is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. To celebrate the anniversary, all the theme flowers that have graced Floria since 2007 will be used this year. Hibiscus, Orchid, Heliconia, Rose, Bougainvillea, Begonia, Lily and Chrysanthemum are those flowers to be displayed amongst more than 400,000 flowering plants from various species.

Main Entrance

The Floria festival has a lot to offer to the visitors. Each area of the garden is arranged with different themes. ‘FLoria Main Entrance Statement’ is the theme name given for the decorations at the entrance of the garden. Colourful and light fabrics with acrylic panels are arranged as the ceiling throughout the walkways. The pattern will not only amuse the spectators, but work as a shade to protect from the scorching sun during the day. At night, the lightings will provide a different ambiance.

FLOORIA Wonder Garden

‘Floria Wonder Garden’ is a nostalgic journey through the previous years of the Floria event since 2007. Landscaped as beautiful gardens highlighted with the respective theme flowers, the gardens ends in a meadow of multi-coloured flower beds intermingled with cute sculptures that add to the beauty of the ‘wonderland’. It would be a paradise for photographic enthusiasts.

FLORIA Royal Garden

Next wonder is Floria Royal Garden, which is inspired by the regal Istana Kenangan in Kuala Kangsar with its unique, elusive architectural inspirations of iconic buildings in the state that include features of the Pavilion Tower, Kuala Kangsar Clock Tower and Ubudiah Mosque. The Kenangan Palace symbolises the impressive traditional Malay architecture that uses only wood with no nail spikes, sited on 60 pillars. The renowned handicraft, Labu Sayong symbolising Perak’s cultural heritage is also integrated into the Royal Garden design.

FLORIA Miniature Garden

Another attraction is the Floria Miniature Garden or the “Bucolic Garden”, inspired by the beautiful countryside of the movie ‘The Hobbits and The Lord of The Rings’. The structures are built using natural and recyclable materials such as twigs, tree trunks, river stones and weeds. Some of the characters featured in Hobbiton are also highlighted at the ‘Mini Hobbiton’.

Royal Floria Putrajaya offers something for everyone in the family. Those who are looking to spend quality time with family and friends with loads of fun-filled activities, a wide array of food and beverage along with amazing photographic opportunities awaits you in Putrajaya.

Visiting timing of the event are 9AM – 10:30PM (Monday to Thursday) and 9AM-12 Midnight (Friday to Sunday).
