Indonesia eyes French tourists in boosting tourism

As a way to bring in major growth in tourism sector, Indonesia is eyeing France, a major force in European tourist market by associating with French travel organizers. Deputy Tourism Minister Nia Niscava, who also oversees the marketing growth in Europe, said the association with local French travel agents and organizers will definitely result in the increase of French tourists to the country.

The ongoing talk with the French travel agencies and organizers have already resulted in surveying places and accommodations in Bali from July to August by them to bring in considerable number of French tourists to the much admired destination. The travel agencies and organizers also urged for direct flights from France to Indonesia for ensuring more footfall of tourists. French travellers contributed notably to the global tourism spending as the country was ranked fifth with $40 billion in 2016.

“The French market is very interesting. It has good profile and market potentialities. Around 23.5 million French people travel abroad each year. Now it’s a matter of how we can seize this opportunity,” Nia said. Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya is positive about the ministry’s initiatives to attract the French market by associating with French travel agencies and organizers.”This is a good move as France is apparently a promising market in Europe. We expect to see significant number of French tourist arrivals as the outcome of this concept,” he said.
