Rajasthan exempts 50% stamp duty to boost tourism

This is the best time to start a tourism enterprise or an enterprise for providing entertainment in Rajasthan, as the state government has decided to exempt 50 per cent on stamp duty.

Issuing the order, Department of finance said that the stamp duty chargeable on purchase or lease of multi-storied commercial building for setting up these units will get relaxation of 50 per cent on stamp duty.

The benefit will also been given to entrepreneurs who are interested to set up enterprise in information technology. The entrepreneurs can get this relaxation of paying 50 per cent of stamp duty at the time they submit entitlement certificate issued to them by the screening committee under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme of 2014. The state government had recently included establishment of tourism units in larger public interest category for land use conversion. This decision has been taken in accordance to recommendations made by the tourism department for promoting new investment in the sector.

The idea of the government is to promote tourism sector in the state which is one of the largest industry in the state and lakhs of people are directly and indirectly involved in this sector. In 2017, 475.27 lakh tourists came to Rajasthan, registering 10.50 per cent growth from the previous year.
