Priyanka Chopra’s Assam Tourism ad nominated for ‘OSCAR for Ad Films’

The Assam Tourism ad featuring the state’s brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra, has been nominated for an award which is considered to be the ‘Oscar for Ad Films’.

The state’s rich culture is beautifully captured in this 3.30-minute long video. The ad film features the traditional masked dancers of Majuli and the cymbal-clanging Bhortal dancers from Barpeta and Guwahati. The ad features Priyanka draped in Muga Mekhela Chador, showcases the rich cultural heritage and the exotic beauty of nature across the state.

The advertisement has been nominated under three categories, viz, Best Cinematography, Best Original Music, and Best Direction. “We have only received the intial reports. It’s a matter of pride that the ad has been nominated for a prestigious event. We are yet to receive the details,” said Kausar Hilaly, MD, ATDC.

Chopra had recently subjected to controversies for the dress she was wearing in a print ad of Assam Tourism. The actress was featured in a calendar of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) wearing a frock and holding a japi — a traditional Aasamese hat.  Congress legislators raised objections to the choice of the attire in the photograph during a session of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
