Rajasthan Tourism bags Times Travel Awards

Rajasthan Department of Tourism has bagged two Times Travel Awards 2018 for ‘Best Marketing Initiative – Domestic Tourism’ and Brand Equity Marketing Magazine Award for ‘Best Print Media Creatives’.

State’s tourism department’s additional director Gunjeet Kaur received the award at an event in Delhi. The award from Best Print Media Creatives was given to Rajasthan tourism by Brand Equity, the marketing and advertising magazine of Economic Times, at a ceremony in Mumbai. The award was received by additional director of state’s tourism department, Sanjay Pandey.

The tourist arrivals to the state was increased by 10.50 per cent to 45.91 million visits in 2017. Inbound tourism, after witnessing degrowth of 3 per cent in 2015, has bounced back with a 3 per cent growth in 2016 and 6 per cent growth in 2017. The occupancy in Jaipur hotels rose to the threshold of 65 per cent for the first time in a decade. Similarly, the passenger traffic growth in Jaipur airport was the second highest in the country after Guwahati. It handled 37.8 lakh passengers in 2016-17 compared to 28.9 lakh in the previous year notching a growth of 31 per cent.

The department is hosting cultural shows in overseas markets and participating in the leading travel marts in the world by roping in travel agents and tour operators.
