Russia to block Telegram App

Russian cloud-based messaging service app, Telegram is going to face a legal lawsuit from the Russian state security services. The company is facing charges as it refused to give access to the secret messages of their loyal users to the government.

Telegram is rated as the 9th most popular messenger in the world. Over 200 million active users are reportedly using the service under the protection of strong encryptions.

Meanwhile, the Russian government’s Federal Security service approached Telegram to give access to some of the messages related to a terrorist attack. But telegram hesitated the request sighting their user privacy. A lawsuit was filed against the company at Moscow court related to the security breach imposed by Telegram against Russia.

“Threats to block Telegram unless it gives up private data of its users will not bear fruit. Telegram will stand for freedom and privacy,” tweeted Pavel Durov, Telegram founder and CEO regarding the issue.
