An airport worth $12bn from Istanbul

Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey, is coming up with a giant airport complex, worth over $12.3 billion. The new engineering marvel on finalization would become a new world-class aviation hub, that connects over 350 destinations with 100 airline fleet.

80 per cent  of the structure is completed and is scheduled to launch on 29th October 2018. The airport authority has installed world’s smartest LED lighting system for the runways, that consist of over 34,183 LED lights. It also hosts a 24X7 dedicated cargo transportation department.

According to media reports, the passenger capacity of the airport would be around 90 million, with three parallel runways, terminal building, taxiway, air traffic control tower, weather analysis department and other security features.

The airport also hosts top-notch architectural design with a unique culture that symbolises Istambul’s heritage (Turkish-Islamic art and architecture). The airport will feature an airport city, that includes office buildings, airport hotels, mosques, medical centers, trade fair and conference centers.

“The first runway at INA is now ready for takeoff and landing. For the first time, runway number one, which is 3,750m long and 60m wide, has been lit up,” said Yusuf Akcayoglu, CEO of IGA Airports Construction.

“We have recently finished the baggage system which constitutes our airport’s core. And now we have made the runway number one ready for landing with all the required equipment and in compliance with the relevant global standards. We are looking forward to delivering Istanbul New Airport in its entirety in October,” added Yusuf Akcayoglu.
