Indian Cellular Association, along with Telecom Ministry has revealed that India became the second largest mobile phone producer globally after China.

“We are happy to inform you that with the strenuous and calibrated efforts of the government of India, India has now emerged as the second largest producer of mobile handset by volume,” said Pankaj Mohindroo, President, Institute of Computer Accountants (ICA).

ICA revealed this data through market research firms- China’s National Bureau of Statistics and Vietnam General Statistics Office. The data further reveals that yearly production of mobile phones in India has inflated from 3 million units to 11 million by 2017.

Meanwhile, India over passed Vietnam to achieve the tag. Hence mobile phone imports have been dramatically reduced with respect to indigenous production facilities.

Additionally, the union government aims to achieve over USD 46 billion in around 2019, through our production plants. A wide number of human resourcing, as well as job opportunities, has been emerged with respect to global mobile manufacturing plants in India.
