Xiaomi to launch Redmi 5

After the much awaited successful launch of Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in February, Xiaomi India is all set to launch the new Redmi 5 on March 14.

According to reports, the new Redmi 5 tagged as ‘compact powerhouse’ would be the ancestor of the model launched way back in China. Speculations are that the phone would be slim, sleek and compact with a strong battery backup.

The new Redmi 5 would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset integrated with 2,3 and 4 gb of RAM. The phone would further house a 12 MP rear camera with LED flash (f/2.2 aperture) and a 5 MP selfie shooter. Xiaomi additionally adds their unique IR blaster and fingerprint scanner to the new device.

The slim phone is about to weight around 157 grams, with built-in Android 7.1 Nougat MI 9 user interface.  Xiaomi mainly targets the budget audience with their new launch and is expected to price at Rs 6,999 to Rs 8000/-.
