IIHM to open country’s first tourism university

International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) Kolkata, will open the country’s one and only tourism university. IIHM is investing over Rs. 150 crore in setting up the University out of which Rs. 70 crore has already been invested towards setting up the infrastructure and state-of-art facilities in Salt Lake Electronic Complex Sector 5.

Named as the IIHM University and is registered under the West Bengal Private University Act, the new institution is a joint venture between IIHM and Institute of Advanced Management (IAM).

“Our vision is to co-create one of the finest Tourism Universities in the world, which will strive to provide huge employment opportunities for the students in West Bengal,” says Dr. Suborno Bose, the main promoter and CEO of IIHM Group.

IIHM is also conducting the biggest Culinary Olympiad for Young Chefs where students from 50 nations would come and contest in the event. “I am happy to be associated with events of a global scale that are being organized in India like Young Chef Olympiad by IIHM and Dr. Bose,” says Padma Shri awardee and renowned chef, Sanjeev Kapoor.

IIHM have colleges spread across Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bangkok whereas IAM has colleges in Goa, Kolkata and Guwahati. IIHM, with an academic attendance of 6500 full time students in India and Thailand, has achieved academic collaborations with the finest institutions. IIHM conducts courses in Tourism Development, Hospitality & Tourism Studies, Eco- tourism, Sustainable Tourism and Tourism in Digital World.
