With volcanic eruption at Karangasem impacting tourism, Indonesian government is taking all possible measures, including huge discounts, to recover Bali’s lost glory.
Tourism in Bali has dropped dramatically since the increase in volcanic activity of Mount Agung in Karangasem regency. Even Domestic travellers have shown reluctance to visit the resort island. As of October, 5 million foreign tourists visited Bali. But this year’s total number would only reach 5.5 million, very short of the target, 6 million.
Considering all these facts government announced discounts, an effort to boost tourist arrival during New Year season. Discounts up to 50 percentage, applicable to both domestic and foreign travellers, are available and tour packages start at rs 14,000. In addition, government will spend US $ 7 million for various promotional activities.
What to see in Bali
There are a number of temples, historical sites and spots of natural beauty spread across eight regencies of Bali. Tanah Lot Temple is one of the most visited places in the country.
