Dr. Dileep M.R., Director (KITTS), bags Prof. Dr. Tejveersingh Award for Excellence.

Dr. Dileep M.R., Director of Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS), bags Prof. Dr. Tejveersingh Award for Excellence this year. Instituted by the Asian Tourism Research Foundation, a research consortium formed by the Tourism departments of Far Eastern University, Philippines, and Mahatma Gandhi University, India; this award is given for outstanding contribution to the field of tourism academics and research.

Being the first Asian to win the Ulysses Award given by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for excellence in tourism research, Prof. Tejveer Singh, in whose name the award is instituted, was also the founding editor of Tourism Recreation Research, a leading international journal. Dr. Dileep, an associate professor of Tourism with Pazhassiraja College, is currently working as Director of KITTS on a government deputation basis. This time, the award is shared by Jamia Millia Islamia University professor Nimit Chaudhary as well.

Dr. Dileep has published eight books, most of which are at the international level. Moreover, there are several research publications and paper presentations in his credit. Also, he is a columnist in tourism-related periodicals and a member of the expert panel that prepared the leading encyclopedia in tourism, published by Springer from New York. The award ceremony was held at the Asian Tourism Conference hosted by Christ University, Bangalore.
