Insurance coverage for travelers at 60 Eco-Tourism destinations in Kerala

The decision to provide insurance cover to travelers visiting 60 eco-tourism centers of the State Forest Department. This is the first such move in the state. The scheme is for one year in association with the United India Insurance Company. The forest department will pay Rs 225 per person per year to the insurance company.

  • In case of accidental death at eco-tourism centers, the assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs and in case of mutilation Rs. 2.5 lakhs will be provided.
  • The coverage is only for those who buy tickets and visit eco-tourism centers. There is no protection against the loss of any property. Only Indian citizens are covered.
  • The benefit is limited to a maximum of 50 people a year. 2.5 crore a year will be paid as compensation. The State Development Agency paid a premium of Rs. 20,65,00/- (Including GST).
  • The project is being implemented in Thekkady, Eravikulam National Park, Periyar Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, Chinnar, Neyyar, Ponmudi, Palaruvi, Silent Valley, Thenmala, Konni Elephant Reserve, and Thommankuth.
