Punjab’s tourism minister directs completion of all pending projects by end of September

Punjab’s Tourism Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has directed the officials of the department to complete all projects on time, after assessing the situation along with the concerned officials.

Principal Secretary Tourism & Cultural Affairs Hussan Lal, IAS, along with Director, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar held a review meeting to discuss the deadlines regarding completion of all projects.

During the meeting the officials inspected the work on the Medal Gallery & Coin Museum being developed at Mohindra Kothi, Patiala, which is being done at an approximate cost of Rs. 8.95 crores with the help of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Then there is the conservation project of Ran Baas at Patiala’s Qila Mubarak at a cost of Rs 7.5 crores and conservation of Moti Mahal at Qila Mubarak with an estimated cost of Rs 9 crores.

Principal Secretary Husan Lal came to know during the meeting that the labour deployed at site by the contractors was inadequate. He directed them to deploy more resources at the site and ensure completion of all the work by September-end this year.

During the meeting the beautification works of Sher Shah Suri Chowk on Sirhind- Morinda Road,  Samadhi of Shaheed Udham Singh and development of tourist infrastructure at Jahaj Haweli of Diwan Todar Mal, Dera Mir Miran Tomb & Sadhna Kasai Tomb were also reviewed.
