Kerala Blog Express starts its journey on March 21

The sixth edition of Kerala Blog Express, the annual campaign of state Tourism Department, was flagged off on March 21. Rani George, Secretary, Kerala flagged off the sixth edition of the two-week-long Kerala Blog Express from the Grand Hyatt, Kochi at 10.30 am.

This year the campaign has 30 bloggers from 21 different countries across the globe participating in the event. The participating bloggers were selected through a voting system.

For the first time ever in six years, the Kerala Tourism Department is organizing two trips back to back, one catering the International bloggers and another version exclusive to bloggers residing in India. The move is expected to help the brand reach further, farther and increase domestic footfalls.

Every year, 30 chosen bloggers & social media influencers board a luxury bus that takes them on a two-week road trip across God’s Own Country. Organized by the Department of Tourism, Kerala Blog Express provides a handful of international bloggers a unique platform to experience Kerala in full bloom. The itinerary is arduously planned to highlight the myriad experiences and exhaustive range of activities that a small tropical state like Kerala has on offer.

The bloggers are also encouraged to try their hand at coir retting, tea leaf plucking, climbing a coconut tree and many such rustic village life experiences during their journey. Through the trip, they navigate the tranquil backwaters, explore the spice-scented tea hills, wander through the wilderness, potter around local markets, and are introduced to spicy, mouth-watering cuisine, delicious desserts and riveting art forms.

The Kerala Blog Express was piloted in 2014 with the aim of creating a pool of global brand ambassadors who have experienced Kerala and have the ability to reach out to aspiring globetrotters. The third edition of Kerala Blog Express won the Bronze for Social Media (Outreach) at the ABBY Awards 2016.
