Delhi Metro’s Blue Line in Noida start functioning

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City section of the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line on Saturday. The services will be available at 4 PM, stated a senior DMRC official.

This 6.6 km elevated section consists of six stations namely Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Noida Electronic City. The new section will provide a convenient and faster mode of transport for the residents of Noida. The extended metro line will decongest the roads and provide an environment-friendly mode of transport.

The Noida extension line will bring the Blue Line close to the recently-opened Aqua Line, which connects Noida and Greater Noida. Sector-52 station of DMRC’s Blue Line is close to Sector-51 station on the Aqua Line, which is operated by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). Its commuters are awaiting last-mile connectivity between the two lines. There is a distance of around 300 metres between the Sector-51 and Sector-52 stations.

Plans are in pipeline to connect the two lines through a dedicated pathway and a carriage-way for e-rickshaws, officials said earlier.

The Prime Minsiter also inaugurated the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology in Greater Noida. Modi also launched various development projects at the institute under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which is located in Knowledge Park-II, Greater Noida.
