This solo woman traveller is crossing the 10th country on her Bajaj Dominar

The 28-year-old Bengaluru based Candida Louis hit the headlines last year when she decided to bike to 10 countries with a mission to educate the world about the importance of travel. And, today she is in Australia, the 10th country, enjoying her solo ride on her Bajaj Dominar motorcycle, which she passionately calls ‘Skye’.

In the first leg of her journey, she covered the East Coast of India and headed towards North East where she rode across Manipur to Myanmar – Thailand – Laos – Vietnam – Cambodia – Thailand – Malaysia – Singapore – Indonesia. She did two island hops, one from Malaysia to Indonesia, and the other from Timor to Darwin. Now on the final leg, she is riding from Darwin up to Sydney.

“Having ridden from Bangalore to Bali passing through 9 Countries. It’s time for the last leg of the journey through Australia. Follow Skye and I as we take you through some stunning locations and share stories along the way while interacting with the locals and creating memories for a lifetime,” Candida wrote on her Instagram profile yesterday.

Candida, who will be covering over 28,000 km soon on this trip, has selected her trip to Australia to pay a tribute to Alistair Farland, a young Australian motorcycle explorer who died in an accident, and his family. “Skye is a part of Change Your World fund travel project in honour of the Australian biker,” she said. She also wants to create awareness about travelling and its benefits to people, especially the women folk in semi urban and rural areas.
