Seljalandsfoss – a must visit place in Iceland

Seljalandsfoss is located in the South Region in Iceland.  The waterfall drops 60 meters and is part of the Seljalands river that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajokull. The specialty of the water fall is that visitors can walk behind the waterfall. It offers a spectacular view of the waterfall from behind, a rare shot for photographic enthusiasts.

Special caution should be taken when going behind Seljalandsfoss, as the path can be slippery. The path behind the water fall is mostly closed during the winter months, due to risk of falling ice. So it is better to avoid going near the waterfall during winter visits.

During summer the visitors can witness a lot of wildflowers that bloom and thrive around the waterfall, feeding on the mist from the water fall. Seljalandsfoss is an ideal place to spend time with your friends and family time. it is one of the preferred picnic spot in Iceland, since the surroundings are both beautiful and serene.
