IIM Kozhikode to host International Conference on Global Health and Medical Tourism

IIM Kozhikode is hosting an International Conference on Global Health and Medical Tourism (GIoHMT) on March 7-10, 2019. The event will be organized in association with the tourism department of government of Kerala and MVR Cancer Centre & Research Institute. Renowned Ayurveda Medical center, Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala will also take part in the event, which is being co-hosted by Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) University in Jaipur

MVR Cancer Centre & Research Institute is one of the leading facilities in Kerala that provides advanced cancer treatment facility at affordable costs. MVR Cancer Centre and Research Institute has 30+ cancer-related departments to provide intense cancer care in a 300-bed facility. The Global Health and Medical Tourism conference aims at creating a platform for industry and academia to interact, deliberate and create knowledge resources that will be useful to all stakeholders as well as will contribute to the growth in the sector.

IIM Kozhikode campus will host the first phase of the event from March 7- 10, 2019 and the second phase is set to be held at IIHMR campus in Jaipur from March 11-13, 2019. The event will witness various sessions and panel discussions on related topics along with a visit to the cultural village located in Jaipur.

Proffessor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, stated that management education is not just limited to corporate houses. Today’s health facilities are state-of-the-art concepts and are to be managed effectively for wider reach and inclusive growth.

“This conference is a bridge between global health and medical tourism on one hand and these two areas and management education on the other. IIM Kozhikode plans to offer leadership and soft skills courses in full swing in the health and medical tourism sector, and this conference is just a beginning,” said Chatterjee.

Proffessor Deepa Sethi, Chairperson of the GloHMT Conference, said that this conference was a landmark by bringing international and national experts in a single event to share insights on global health and medical tourism.
